So over the past 13 posts you have heard me describe all the reasons that are leading up to “The Event”.
Most of the issues that I have spoken about have been based around poor Government and leadership decisions and the removal of our freedoms.
Today... probably due to it being Sunday I want to take a look at another way that we are rushing toward “The Event”... but this reason is more personal.
Let’s talk about Post Modern Relativism. I”ll call it PMR ... simple due to the fact that the previous takes too long to type and I am feeling somewhat lazy...
PMR is a huge issue.... A friend of mine posted this letter to the editor today on Facebook and I thought it quite apropos for todays post.
I also saw these MEMES the other day and found it to be quite hilarious.
But really???
What has happened to people???
I tell you. It is the Sin nature coming through. Satan’s influence on us in today’s world has allowed us to justify the most horrible things. Abortion, War, Greed, Sex and idolatry.
But I truly believe that it is this last item that is causing us to rush the head long into “The Event”. The sin of idolatry and then using PMR to justify the sin.
Idolatry is a huge issue. We put many things before God. But what you the reader have to understand that it isn’t just people who worship idols... its everything!
Think about your day... yes... I know it’s Sunday... you may or may not have gone to Church, that is ok... going to church doesn’t make you a Christian. But what think about everyday... what do you put before your thoughts God? Money, work, sex, your smart phone, TV, video games?
What is your “idol” ... and how do you justify it?
There is an interesting verse in the book of Romans in chapter 7: 15-25
“15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me.
18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[c]For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death?
25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So... did you catch that... the author knows what he should be doing and still doesnt do it! I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that he had things in his life that he put before God... and yet he still did it.
There is nothing you can do about that... we all sin thanks to Adam, Eve and the fall.
But here is where I get back to “PMR”... remember I am too lazy to type it in today.
People have fallen away from God, and they are now justifying it....
“Oh... its ok that I sleep with this person who I’m not married too... I don’t “love” my wife any more and she is probably cheating on me anyways..”
“Oh... its ok that I take this drug... it makes me feel good, and right now I am living in the moment...”
“Oh ... its ok that I lie to the American people... telling them the truth to them would only hurt them and cause me to loose my delegates”
See... everyone can tell a lie... everyone puts something (an idol) in front of God and justifies it...
They call it “relative”... what is good for me what may not be what is good for you.. but what is good for you.... may not be what is good me...
I’ll call this one as I see it... “Bravo Sierra”... or B.S...
This is an absolute... God’s law...its perfect, it’s loving and his Son is the only way to heaven.
“Wait Jay... not everyone has heard the truth...” Yeah... you can’t use that excuse anymore... we are in America... we are amount the highest Church per capita!
It is no longer an excuse... People are just making bad choices and are using relativism to justify them.
Ladies and Gentlemen... please understand that this is how we got to this point in this nation...Bad decisions..and justification.
Bad decisions morally, and then justifying them.
Bad decisions ethically, and then justifying them.
Bad decisions Biblically and then justifying them.
Bad decisions financially and then justifying them.
You cannot live life using PMR ... it bad and causes sin in multiple forms.
We can be better than we are! We can learn to make better choices and prepare for “The Event”...!
We can be ready for when it happens...! Prepare your families! Prepare your friends!
Make good decisions now to be ready for later... Christ is the answer... he want’s you to repent! He wants to continue loving you and have you put him first!
